It was the early 90’s and a group of South Haven sailors were troubled. How would local kids afford the fees associated with learning to sail? While many yacht club members were sending their kids and grandkids for sailing lessons – area children could not enjoy Lake Michigan due to financial barriers. That desire to see South Haven children on the water inspired a group to start the Foundation. Frank Overton, Dave Cooper, Pat Mullins and Stephen Neumer were the founding fathers and charted the course for what would fund hundreds of area children to enjoy the water over the next 25 years.
